BLKDOG partnered with El Ultimo Agave on tequila label design and a refreshed identity system, including logo redesign and premium packaging presentation. The goal was to better reflect the distillery’s history, the expertise of the agaveros caring for the plants, and how that affects the quality of the tequila.
ABOUT
El Ultimo Agave tequila comes from Amatitán, Mexico, a region known for world-class agave and some of the most recognized names in tequila. Made from 100% agave from mature, estate-grown plants, the product already had a strong foundation. As the market shifted, the existing packaging needed to do a better job of communicating quality, authenticity, and distinction.
BLKDOG was brought in to redesign the brand’s visual presentation through a new logo direction and a more refined label system. The redesign needed to shift perception immediately, helping El Ultimo Agave feel more elevated and distinctive in a category crowded by celebrity recognition.

We worked closely with the client through multiple rounds of concept development and refinement to ensure the final direction reflected origin, heritage, and quality. The client had a clear story hierarchy. The heart of the brand is the agavero, the expert who cares for the plant across its lifecycle, from the first agave to el último.
From there, we explored packaging architecture, storytelling cues, and hierarchy on the bottle. That included seal concepts, typography, color direction, cap styling, and options for deeper storytelling details like a pendant or booklet.
The refreshed system gives El Ultimo Agave a clearer point of view and a stronger first impression, one that reads premium without losing its roots. By building a consistent family hierarchy and making key trust cues easy to spot, the brand now shows up with more confidence on the shelf and with more credibility in hand. The result is a tequila label that feels intentional in every detail, and a label design system built to support long-term growth.
